1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The Roomba j7+, iRobot’s smartest robot to date, is the Roomba J7+. Its most significant innovation is a camera-based obstacle detection system that uses built-in AI to recognize objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often slough through). It's the first robot to provide you with images of objects that it encounters, so you can tell that it is safe to avoid it.
The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up dirt and spills with ease while leaving no trace it was there. It's easy to control through the iRobot Home app, which allows you to schedule cleaning and set up Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't clean areas you don't want it to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it using voice.
The design is also superior to the competition. It has a sleek, top piece that looks like a toy rather than an obnoxious and loud robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System self-empties which is great for reducing your cleanup time.
In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and other particles. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in place, rather than scattering it around the floor. It even managed to take small gravel and sand which other robots couldn't do. It did all of this without getting tangled up in our pet's hair shed.
While it's not quite as sophisticated as the $1,217 Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, and it's not able to clean stairs, the J7+ is an excellent option for those who need both a vac and a mop in their home. It's not costly and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.
Although the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly, we've found it to be less reliable than other apps that use robotic cleaners. It can take some time to download updates and it can be difficult to determine if they are functioning until you actually witness them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you want a robot vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the best option. This kind of robot usually has a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your home simultaneously. These bots also come with various additional features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. The negative is that they tend to be expensive at retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.
Roborock is one of our favorite robot vacuums and the Q5+ isn't an exception. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and while it doesn't have some of the premium features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save some hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is noticeable gentle around obstacles such as wall legs and table legs and walls, which makes it an excellent choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough in removing dust bunnies. Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled with the buttons on the device or through the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning, set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and adjust your home map, or change the labeling of rooms.
If you decide to go with the Q5+, it comes with a new auto-empty dock, which was specifically designed to make the robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, however, once it's in place emptying the bin is done with relative ease. It features a large LCD screen, which is useful when setting up schedules and altering settings. This feature isn't necessary for the majority of people, but it can help effectively keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of mopping and vacuuming. Its design and features are some of the top available however, it's also expensive.
Its base station looks good and is hidden when it's not in use, and its size is quite compact. The main reason to buy the station is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. The majority of other robots require this.
And its vacuuming is impressive as well. It's one of the few robovacs I've tried that does very well at picking up debris on plain floors, and is not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially in the area of navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren't as reliable and reliable as other robovacs, which means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of the home. It also can't climb stairs as well as other models and doesn't come with a dock that can create a clean zone for plush carpets.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great choice for those who want a vacuum robot that can do everything.
If you're looking to save money or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. A lot of eufy models are substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and provides an identical experience on the app with more features like stairs, a fully-function dock, and a better overall vacuuming performance on bare floors and low and high-pile carpets.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
Eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that offer the perfect combination of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpeted flooring, and mopping functions at a reasonable price. It's simple to set up, simply snap on one of the side brushes and then turn it on. Then connect the charging dock. The app guides you through a few steps to connect it to your Wi-Fi. After that, the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock close to an outlet for power and enough space to allow it to move, however.
The G30 is a small device that measures 2.85 inches in height, which means it is able to be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces furniture. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, with sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical that control Auto Cleaning, which can be paused or started. Recharge and Spot Clean (which cleans the area in a spiral pattern for two minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do unscheduled cleaning.
The most important characteristic that makes the G30 above the rest is the method it cleans. It also comes with border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller dust container doesn't require as frequent emptying and it struggles less with heavy materials such as cereal.
